There should be some test of responsibility before ANYONE is allowed to get credit quick, more than just a name and a social security number, anyway. Don’t get me wrong: getting credit can help keep the economy healthy but only if the borrower has the means, the feeling of accountability and ability to pay for it. The sales agents should also think beyond warm bodies and commissions on sign ups, haven’t there been enough credit companies closing down because of bad debts? And enough people are going through a credit rebuildfrom all those bad choices they’ve made when they were young. Why make it easy for people to make the wrong choice for a quick buck? That’s not good business, that’s plain old misdirection.

It isn’t that hard to get a credit score first, like the piece mentioned, there are three outfits that provide these. People should really find out what their means are to keep them from overspending. Wanting something and being able to afford it are so different. Maybe the young people of this generation can learn something from this write-up, years down the line they’d realize all the help it gave and be thankful for it.
